Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no more wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” ~ John 2:2-5 #Bible

The Bible says that as the wedding party was going on, they ran out of wine; they had no more wine. They used to have it, in surfeit amounts maybe, but now they had none.

A number of people find themselves in this state, they have no joy. No joy in their relationships, none at their work place, etc. (e.g. You used to enjoy the free night calls, talking for hours, suddenly there is no more joy, and you can’t talk for five minutes without any arguments).

But this couple was smart and showed prudence: they had invited Jesus at the start. And you see, Jesus is so concerned, that as long as you have Him in the center of things, He will come through for you. Make sure He’s involved in all you do, and when the going gets tough, you can go to Him directly to get new wine.

The Bible says there were six jars of clay nearby. Six is the number of man (Revelation 13:18). Remember also, you and I are jars/vessels made from clay (our bodies) and God made man on the 6th day. So we represent those jars or man represents those jars.

And Jesus gives one directive to get the wine/joy back (in v.7), ‘Fill the jars with water‘…and they filled it to the brim.’

For us to have renewed joy, even better than the joys of our past (nb: the new wine was better than the old wine), we need to fill ourselves with the water of the Holy Spirit. I’ll take that again, to have this joy from within, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. And a third time: Fill yourself with the water of the Spirit.

If you’ve ran out of wine, out of joy in your life, in your relationship, in your spiritual life, your finances, your work; ask the Lord to fill you up with the water of the Holy Spirit. He says, ‘whoever believes, out of their belly..’ Say, “Lord I believe in You, let rivers of living water flow in me. Fill me anew with your Holy Spirit.

May your earnest prayer be answered.
