Bible and Sex Discussion: Priscilla shares

3 min read

“If fornication is sin, why didn’t God wait and give us strong sexual desires when we get married 💍?

Priscilla shares:
I believe one reason is for us to develop self-control, which is also a fruit of the spirit. Also, that urge is there for us to choose or surrender the free will God has given to mankind back to honor him.

And lastly I believe that urge for sex is a part of us to cause us to draw to God, as in to depend on the Holy Spirit for strength, wisdom and guidance in times when the urge is overwhelming.

And what is love anyway? Does physical attraction and desire not count with the Godly kind of love ❤?”

I think from the Bible’s perspective and God’s standard, love talks more about character than emotions. The verse below (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) elaborates more about the God kind of love which is sacrificial and character based.

Secondly, physical attraction and desire DOES count with the God kind of love because actually it’s the desire of a certain personality type and figure that will draw and attract you to the person first and foremost.

But it’s just that these (attractions/emotions/ desires) fade with time and also aren’t really a weightier matter in God’s sight…

So I will conclude by saying that desire has a purpose and that is to draw or attract you to a person or someone but the character or the Godly virtues tends to be the factor that will sustain the love.

It also determines the longevity of the love while it builds and prepares you to be more like Christ who happens to be our perfect model and standard🙏 ” ~ Priscilla Effah Birago (Twitter and IG: @priscy_favor)
