When disaster strikes people are filled with grief and anguish. And naturally we try to find reasons, answers, and some sort of explanations to help make sense of the situation.

Last weekend the entire world was shaken by the misfortune of the 160 persons involved in the Ethiopian Airlines crash. Just yesterday, there was talk of a building which collapsed on school children in Nigeria; I can’t forget the incidence in Paris, the girls from Boko Haram; and even as you read this, the ongoing evil in Libya, etc. These attacks and disasters have gotten the attention of the world.

Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But Unless You REPENT, You Too Will All Perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But Unless You REPENT, You Too Will All Perish.” #Bible

Today I want us to consider shortly what the Scripture says concerning these. From the passage above, we get two kinds of disasters: One caused by wicked rulers/dealings of men; and the second is caused by natural disasters.

Interestingly Jesus didn’t attempt to answer why any of the disasters happened; neither did He play the blame game. And what’s more, He clearly states that it can happen to everyone and anyone; the Airline crash could have happened to anybody; the collapsed building could have happened to anybody; all these riots and deaths could have happened to you and I, and anyone.

But you’ll realize that in both instances, Jesus gives a simple answer: REPENT!! Jesus’ solution to disaster is REPENTANCE! Listen, no matter how you die (natural, or from an accident, or an attack), eternity will be waiting for you. However way death comes, it will surely come for all of us at some time.

And Jesus is saying, “Unless you REPENT, you too will all Perish!” Beloved Heaven and Hell are real and unless you REPENT, you are going to perish in hell after death.

Pray with me: “Dear Lord Jesus, I ask you into my life. I believe that you died for me on the cross of Calvary, to save me and give me a place in eternity. I confess you as Lord and Savior of my life. Guide me in this new life and give me peace that passes all understanding. Amen!”
