Build Something!

“Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out her seven pillars.” ~ Proverbs 9:1 NIV

One of the greatest indicators of a wise person is the ability to build something significant during their lifetime. Be it a ministry, a home, a school or a career, one thing is certain, it takes wisdom to build.

The Bible says, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; 4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures...“ (Prov 24:3-4).

A quick glance through history attests to the fact that great people are often great builders:

  • King Solomon embarked on building projects throughout his lifetime (1 Kings 6; 7:1-8).
  • Nehemiah built the walls of Jericho within a record time of 52 days (Nehemiah 6:15-16).
  • Jesus promised to build His church and today it is no doubt one of the greatest institutions in the world (Matthew 16:18).
  • The Apostle Paul calls himself a wise master builder (Read 1 Cor 3:10).

I challenge you to make it your aim to build something in your lifetime. You can start by building your spiritual life (Jude 1:20), build your career, build healthy relationships, and then of course build your house (Read Prov 24:27).

But probably the most important key is for your building to last.

Jesus said, “Therefore whoever hears these words of mine and does them shall be likened to a wise man who built his house on the rock, and the rains came, and winds blew… but it did not fall, for it was founded on a solid rock.” ~ Matthew 7:24-25.

Today, you can receive the wisdom to build a lasting legacy for the next generation… in Jesus’ name! ~ Rev Simon Ampofo.
