“A tyrannical ruler practices extortion, but whoever hates ill-gotten wealth will reign a very long time” ~ Proverbs 28:16

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that it is God’s will for us to reign in life through Christ.
In Romans 5:17, we are told that “those who receive the gift of righteousness and God’s abundant provision of grace shall reign in this life through that one man Jesus Christ.“

However, the critical issue for today is not reigning in life per se but how to reign for a very long time.

A careful study of scripture shows that some of the kings of Israel reigned for a very long time whereas others reigned for short periods, even days.

• “David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.” ~ 2 Sam 5:4
• “Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned in Samaria one month.” ~ 2 Kings 15:13
• “In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah seven days.” ~ 1 Kings 16:15a

Today’s key scripture gives us a major key to reigning for a very long time: If you want to reign in life for a very long time you must master money.

• Determine to make money the right way and do not cut corners to become rich.
• Indeed, the love of money has always been the root cause of all evil.
• And the Bible says “Some people, eager to become rich have pierced themselves with all kinds of griefs” (Read 1 Tim 6:10b).

You are better off taking the counsel of the wise man when he says “He who gathers money little by little makes it grow“ ~ Proverbs 13:11.

Let us avoid the trap of making quick money and trust God to bless the work of our hands as we faithfully serve the Lord.

Remember, “A faithful person will be richly blessed but the one eager for money will not go unpunished!” (Proverbs 28:20). I see you reigning for a very long time in this life! You’re blessed!
