“He Got Paid $63mil in a Year?” I want that.

Today we share with you, in this 3-minute read, just one of the precious truths in Matthew 13 that will be a great blessing to you! Please do share your comments after; it would be great to hear from you.

”Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” ~ Matthew 13:45‭-‬46

Now, isn’t that interesting…? These are Jesus’ own words concerning value. Do tell me, will you be willing to sacrifice all you have for something of precious value to you?
I believe the answer is, “Yeeessss!! Of course!”

What this means is that the valuable things in our lives require our greatest sacrifices of time, resources, thought, learning, etc., but we’re willing to make these sacrifices.

  • Do you know people (or maybe you’re one) who value gadgets and new tech so much, that they can put down their stomachs to save just to buy the latest gadgets?
  • They’d probably say, “I want that new Pixel or iPhone; I’m not touching my money!”
  • Others will sacrifice all they have to get new trending clothes because they value fashion; or buy a studio microphone and a vintage guitar because they value music, etc.

Dear friend, Jesus is speaking to us to place a high value on the most important thing: the Kingdom of Heaven! Place a high premium on your walk with God, your relationship with others, your God-given vision and purpose for life, your character, your service, etc., and make sacrifices towards these.

The sacrifice to make is called: All You Have (“he went away and sold everything he had and bought it”).

On the flip side, this verse also suggests a powerful perspective on value. Here it is, “if you became more valuable, like that pearl, people will sacrifice everything to have you or your services.” King Solomon supports this saying, “a man skilled in his work will serve before Kings, he will not serve before obscure men.” Think about it: now isn’t that interesting?

  • Why will Apple pay Tim Cook over $63 mil? (And he’s not the topmost paid CEO: https://aflcio.org/paywatch/highest-paid-ceos).
  • Why are top athletes being paid in triple and double-digit millions (Ronaldo, LeBron, Messi, Curry, Tiger Woods, Tyson Fury, etc)?
  • Same answer for both: these people have become more valuable to their company or franchise.
  • If you helped a company to make over $2 billion in income, will they have a problem paying you, $3mil, even $50mil? “Noooo!! Of course not, that’s like chicken feed for them.”

We leave you three questions to consider or reflect on today:

  1. What sacrifices are you going to make for your walk with God?
  2. What other things are you going to place high value on and sacrifice for?
  3. How much value will you add to yourself this year? (An added language, a positive character trait, relationship value, business skills, your talents, etc).

May the Holy Spirit help us answer and work on these May we receive grace and help from above. Hey, you’re blessed!
