  • Jesus said that even He did not know the time of the end. Why? Jesus was affirming His humanity when He was on the earth.
  • Of course, God the Father knows the time, and Jesus and the Father are One (John 10:30). But when Jesus became a man, He voluntarily gave up the unlimited use of His divine attributes (Phil 2:5-6).

β€œBut about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.
It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.” – Mark 13:32-34

  • The emphasis of this verse is not on Jesus’ lack of knowledge but rather on the fact that no one (man nor angel, etc) but God has this knowledge.
  • No one can predict by Scripture or science the exact day of Jesus’ return (let’s not even bother ourselves).
  • Jesus is teaching that what is needed is preparation, not calculation. “Be on guard! Be alert!… each with their assigned task…”

In previous posts, we’ve been sharing a lot about preparing by being watchful, alert, and on guard. A good question for us today will be: what is my assigned task? What has God given me to do?

  • I believe there are specific assignments for each one of us that God gives, and there is a general assignment for all of us.
  • God has given you and me a mandate to travel the world. How many of us want to travel the world? Well, I really do.
  • A mandate is something you’ve been asked to do, prepared to do, or a task you’ve been asked to accomplish.
And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. - Mark 13:10
And He said to them, β€œGo into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. - Mark 16:15

Thus as Christians, we have been asked to, we’ve been prepared to and we’ve been tasked to travel all over the world… The question is how? How can we travel all over the world?

“Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.” ~ Daniel 12:2‭-‬4 NIV #Bible

  • God gave Daniel a message and said in the last days many will die, some will go to heaven, some will go to hell.
  • What’s more, in these last days the wise or the righteous will turn the hearts of many people to God, and they will shine like stars in heaven.
  • But the 4th verse says, (and I find this very interesting), “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

So God was saying to Daniel, this message – many are going to die and the wise/righteous will win many to God – might not be relevant to you and your generation because you are limited in knowledge, and you can’t move to and fro (traveling).

Nevertheless, write it down and seal it because a time is coming when knowledge shall be increased, people will be able to easily travel, then this message will be relevant. [Charle God is wild o!]

  • I think we’re right to say knowledge has increased greatly since the time of Daniel and even more in our current generation.
  • It’s as if we know everything in the world today (I mean it’s just incredible to think of AI for instance).
  • Look at all the recent technology we’re enjoying (perhaps it’s left with how to download food from the internet; I’m personally waiting for that one).

So you’ll see that you and I are in that time of the end that Daniel described. And true enough, we can easily move to and fro these days.

  • Everyone and everything travels all over the world so fast. What am I talking about? Internet, Social Media.
  • Let something happen in China today, and it will immediately travel to Australia; it won’t even take five minutes.
  • For instance, most of you don’t know me or my location now, but this message has traveled to you at the click of a button (and the amazing people who share the devotionals).

So yes, I believe God was telling Daniel about our generation. And He says, “The righteous and wise will win many or turn many to God.” Jesus made a similar statement: “And this Gospel will be preached to the whole world…” ~ Matthew 24:14.

Dear friend, can I ask you a question? (Please don’t get angry with me): Are you one of the wise and are you one of the righteous? Beloved, as much as I understand there are a lot of vices with social media, I believe God has orchestrated it to help spread the good news.

  • Three stats to humor you: 63.8% of the entire population (5.22 billion people) is on social media.
  • On average, the Christian spends 15 mins in prayer but 3 hours on social media.
  • Last but not least, there are 3 billion people currently on Facebook (37% of the entire world), and over 2 billion people on WhatsApp and Instagram, etc (https://datareportal.com/).
  • So using social media to fulfill God’s mandate is somewhat easier now; you can travel over the internet to reach more people.

Because of this, we can preach to people in Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Libya, and wherever, without seeing them face to face (And even if they don’t want to hear it, they can’t help it. Nothing is secret on social media).

Dear friend, because almost anyone on social media can see your profile, for starters let your page or profile be your platform to evangelize: every day OR every week (any opportunity you get).

  • Secondly, intentionally pray and ask God to use that channel to win over others and touch the lives of people for Him. Because it is a platform for every kind of person…
  • Last but not least, be selective as to what you post and share on social media.
  • Dear Christian, how are you the first to post a funny joke but the last to share your Jesus? The former is not a sin, but which is priority?

Also, dear Christian, it will help us to follow fellow believers, our Pastors, and pages like Alone With God Devotional (Facebook, IG, & X). You can follow and share or RT what they post. Remember, this is the general task God has given us to do as we wait for His coming.

Let us travel the world with the Good News; let us travel via social media airlines... Stay blessed and enjoy your flight! (and our lovely song below).
