“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
~ Luke 4:18-19

From today’s text, Jesus’ ministry can be put into two-fold: He was anointed to preach and anointed to heal. This gives us an indication of the effects of the anointing. Jesus was anointed to preach the following:

  1. The gospel (good news) to the poor, needy, and destitute
  2. Deliverance to the captives in sin, sickness, and death
  3. The acceptable year of the Lord or the year of God’s favour! (will share more on this below)

When the preaching of the Gospel is fully embraced, all the sick, the sinful, the helpless, and the needy are restored in health, holiness, power, and prosperity, and they have full dominion over the enemy. The biggest blessing is that they also now become members of God’s family.

Dear friend, I need you to believe in the power of God’s Word and the preaching of His anointed servants! Secondly, Jesus was also anointed to heal the following group:

  1. The broken in heart, mind, soul, and body
  2. The blind in body, soul and spirit (those in darkness)
  3. The bruised, the completely crushed and shattered lives, the oppressed and broken

I pray that the anointing of the Holy Spirit will heal every form of brokenness in your life – health, mind and spirit. May God’s light shine in any dark situation of your life and may you be restored fully to live a glorious life for Jesus!

Declare God’s Favour
  • Dear friend, it is very tempting to perceive God as an angry old father😡 who is seeking to destroy humankind at the slightest opportunity.
  • This is especially so if you are an Old Testament favourite; because most of the Old Testament prophets seem to specialize in prophesying doom🏴‍☠️ and God’s punishment to the obstinate and stiffnecked children of Israel🇮🇱.
  • However, the narration changes with the coming of Jesus into the scene 😊❤️.
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me for He has anointed me to … proclaim the year of God's favour." ~ Luke 4:18-19
  • In His first public statement about His mission on earth, Jesus boldly and unapologetically announced that He had come to declare the year of God’s favour 💫.
  • Before that the angels who announced the coming of Jesus also proclaimed peace to men on whom His favour rests (Luke 2:14).
  • Since then, Christianity has come to be associated with the gospel of grace.

And every child of God can enjoy and tap into the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ💫. No wonder “the Grace🙌🏽“ is shared in almost every Christian event. You can receive your share of God’s favour now!

"For His anger is but for a moment, but His favour is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning" ~ Psalm 30:5.

Dear friend, believe me, God is not angry with you; rather He is in love with you❤️ and wants to shower His grace upon you. The Bible says “for God so loved the world…“ ~ John 3:16.

  • Psalm 30:5 reassures us of this: “His anger lasts only for a moment but His favour a lifetime.“
  • You can confess any known sin in your life right now to your loving Father and receive His forgiveness so that you too can enjoy a lifetime of favour💫.
  • I see the night is nearly over for you. Your weeping😥 will turn into joy😃 and your morning🌤️ will break forth because the set time of your favour has come; Yes, it is now! (Psalm 102:13).

The choice is yours to make: let’s choose to walk with Jesus and enjoy a lifetime of favour💫.

Now it appears from the above scriptures that it is not enough to believe in favour but it is prudent for you to speak it over your life and that of your loved ones.

  • The Bible says “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and with the mouth, you profess by faith and are saved(Romans 10:10).
  • As believers, we must learn to confess with our mouths what we believe in our hearts.
  • It is only then that we can see the reality of what we believe in. So today, we speak over your life inexplicable favour.

May you and I be recipients of God’s unmerited favour and enjoy it throughout our lifetime. “For his anger lasts for a moment but his favour a lifetime.” Go ahead and keep speaking favour until it becomes your reality.
