As humans, we are excited by dramatic experiences and happenings. We love to create some drama, or watch some drama unfold, or be at the centre of drama so we can have nice stories to catch people’s attention. Recently, when people are sharing their graduation photos on social media, the caption is all drama:
“Nearly aborted at birth – I came out holding the pills, homeless at age 6, depressed at age 11, defeated cancer at 16, got lost and had to survive in a jungle for 2years, baby mama/dada at 21, started with 1.67GPA finally graduating with 3.84GPA. #ClassOf2018.”
Now while some of these are genuine and true, a number of others are just trying to create drama and catch attention.

And today Richie Rich exposes one of the common mistakes of unsaved people: they want some dramatic experience to challenge them into repentance!
“Richie Rich answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
~~
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
~~
“Abraham said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Most people are looking for some dramatic experiences:Seeing a vision of heaven and hell, having an angel visit them; God speaking out of a thunder storm on eternity; a strange writing on the wall; an accurate and detailed prophecy, etc., to challenge them to give their life to Christ.

- Richie Rich wanted Lazarus to rise from the dead and go speak to his brothers. Abraham knew better; if they didn’t listen to the preachers, they would be the first to ridicule any stories about someone rising from the dead.
They would accuse people of being dimwitted, ignorant, stupid and unintelligent. They would accuse Christians of being brainless for believing in something as farfetched as people rising from the dead.

Which leads to the last lesson, but certainly not the least:
God has chosen that people should be saved by preaching!

- Abraham told Richie Rich that his brothers would have to listen to Moses and the other prophets who were preaching all the time. This is how God has chosen that the lost will be saved; by preaching!
“For since the world through all its [earthly] wisdom failed to recognize God, God in His wisdom was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached [regarding salvation] to save those who believe [in Christ and welcome Him as Savior].” ~ 1 Corinthians 1:21 AMP

Where do we lie? Awaiting a dramatic experience or going out there to preach the Gospel of salvation? May grace teach us to understand and give us the boldness to act! Stay blessed!
