Welcome to day 7 of 31 Days Of Wisdom; 1 Chapter a day for all of November, plus one in December.

Today we’re reading Proverbs 8😍; but here are some wisdom thoughts from yesterday’s reading on Proverbs 7 in a Story.

*************************

At the window of my house I looked down through the lattice. I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who had no sense. He was going down the street near her corner, walking along in the direction of her house at twilight, as the day was fading, as the dark of night set in. ~ Proverbs 7:6‭-‬9

Verse 7 says, I saw amongst the simple, a youth who lacked judgment.

Unfortunately this category of people have increased greatly; youth who lack judgment.

Two of such young people are described in this passage. First, the young simple man who was headed down the path. The other one is described in verse 10 (and I’ll stay here so I can share my personal experience with you).

In v.10 She is described as a woman dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent. Now this is one of the verses that teaches us that by your dressing, we can tell your intents and the kind of person you are likely to be.

(Perhaps we should have an interactive discussion on “Faith and Fashion” to exhaust this… What do you think?)

But Solomon goes on to say that this lady is loud, defiant, seductive. Now I have known someone like that, a neighbor’s friend; whose name begins with one of the letters of the alphabets (Hehe; sorry I can’t say… someone may recognize her).

But one time she called me at night to go see her (for a sleep over because her mother was out of town). Ei! I was in SHS 1 then and had just come on vacation.

Now at that young age her persuasive words got me wanting to go. Honestly eh, I wanted to go, she was sweet-tongued and she is the first lady who kissed me (a couple of days before this phone call).

So young me had his blood excited about more kissing, and she was saying some more things. In fact, she was helping me make-up some excuse to my parents so I could go out of my house.

But I lived in a house where you couldn’t go and come as you wanted (naah not with my wise parents), so I believe that is what actually saved me.

Yes, that is what saved this youth who lacked judgement, me, from v.27: “Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down the chambers of death.”

We may all know ladies or men with such lack of judgment or we may be such ourselves (careful now Ebenezer Boham).

But only wisdom and understanding – in my case it wasn’t even my wisdom, but that of my parents. It is wisdom that can keep us from the “highway to the grave.” If we will be honest, some of us have been youth lacking judgement; and some of us may still be (ei..careful now).

You may be thinking “argh, if it were me, I would be able to tell his/her intent” OR “Me I know boys very well/ I know girls very well..” OROh me I would have gone, nothing would have happened, I know what to do.”

This is where you have actually missed the entire wisdom lesson in this passage. But do tell us (comment below), where do you think the wisdom lesson actually is? (Let V. 24-27 below guide you find it).

Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say. Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng. Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death. ~ Proverbs 7:24‭-‬27 NIV

If you’re reading this and you can relate with my personal life story or with the Proverbs youth, don’t worry, there is hope for you. There is wisdom personified calling out to you, His name is Jesus! And He is going to save you from aaalll of such situations and more. Pray with me:

“Lord Jesus, I come to you just as I am. In my folly I was a sinner, and with my own wisdom I found myself deep in sin. I believe you came to die for me and give me eternal life. I accept you into my life as my Lord and Savior, and I receive your wisdom to reign over life’s situations. Thank you for salvation, thank you for wisdom. Amen!

**********************

I encourage you: let us never seize to search for wisdom and cry aloud for it from God. I urge you to fully participate in ’31 days of wisdom,’ “for wisdom will direct our paths.”

We’re reading Proverbs 8 and I hope to get your views and thoughts on it. Stay blessed 😇
