There’s a classic scene when two people are having an altercation (often man and woman) in an African movie.

Often the woman goes, “Oya slap me; if you are a man, slap me..!” Then the man does, “Wham!” Now the woman is surprised with pain, looking like:

Today I share with you a message titled: Smite me!

‘And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbor in the word of the Lord, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.

Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the Lord, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.’

~ 1 Kings 20:35-36

Dear one, there are times in life when we have to smite or cause pain to the people we love or the people around us. Our failure to do this can lead to our own destruction.

  • Sometimes, you can be in love with someone you know will eventually destroy you. Your refusal to “smite” or break that relationship can cause serious problems for you in the future.

  • Sometimes, you have to “smite” yourself. You have to discipline yourself so you don’t damage your life and destiny. So Paul says, “I beat my body...so I will not be disqualified.

“Discipline will keep you from being disqualified..”

  • In some other cases, you may have to deny yourself of your dream birthday party because if you go for it, it will lead to your financial ruin.

Smite yourself from borrowing money to get nice impressive things; it only leads you downhill financially.

In today’s Bible story, the neighbour refused to “smite” or cause pain to the Prophet because he probably did not want to have a bad relationship with him.

Sometimes, you must “smite” and/or dissociate yourself from people (even friends you love) in order to save your relationship with God, your marriage or your future.

This man refused to “smite” and was eaten by a lion.

Smite what you have to smite before a “lion” eats you up.

(This message was originally by Prophet Kakra Baiden).

Stay blessed and share with all your friends and family.

Ponder: What do I have to “smite” to avoid being eaten up?

  1. Amen. We really have to check our lives and see what we have to smite before a “lion” devours is. God bless you for this message.
