There’s a true story told of a Duke named Raynald III, who lived during the 14th century. Raynald III had lived a life of indulgence and was extremely overweight.
This earned him a Latin nickname, “Crassus,” which means fat.
After a violent quarrel, Raynald’s younger brother, Edward led a successful revolt or coup against him.
Edward captured his brother but did not kill him. Instead he built a room around Raynald in the castle and promised him he could regain his freedom as soon as he was able to leave the room.
This wouldn’t have been difficult for most people, because the room had several windows and a door of a near-normal size, and none of the entries was locked or guarded.
The problem was Raynald’s size. To regain his freedom he’d have to lose weight. He would have to sacrifice time to exercise, sacrifice some meals, just to be free.

But Edward, knowing his brother, kept sending him a variety of different foods.
Instead of dieting his way to freedom, Raynald grew fatter. His health got so ruined that he died within a year, a prisoner of his own appetite.
Many of us today are prisoners to our appetite for sin. Like Raynald, you may look free, enjoying different delicacies each day, you might even be happy. You may be doing what you want; doing what feeeels good.
And we often think:

But the sad truth is, every bite of sin’s delicacies, every drink from sin’s bar, only makes you more of a prisoner.
When we indulge in sin (pride, lies, unforgiveness, lust, drunkenness, smoking, etc) and do whatever feels good, we’re not free; we’re only slaves to our appetites.

True freedom is in Christ Jesus and I pray that you’ll be freed from the prison of lust and sin in Jesus’ name.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” ~ John 8:32.
Today I share with you the truth, do you want to be set free? Jesus will set you free.
Let’s pray together,
“Dear Lord Jesus, I ask you to be the Lord and saviour of my life. Free me from every prison of sin I’m in and give me eternal life. Let your Holy Spirit dwell in me and lead me to walk in your love, Amen!”
Congratulations!! I tell you today, heaven rejoices because of you! You are blessed!
