65 years ago, my country Ghana won independence from the British colony, and this was marked with the famous speech by Dr Kwame Nkrumah which starts:At long last, the battle has ended! And thus, Ghana, your beloved country is free forever!

It was a great day for Ghanaians and Africans as we celebrated liberation from years of difficulty, imprisonment and hardship from colonial rule. On that day were some promises of a new era in Ghana and Africa; 65 years on, still waiting, still hopeful.

As the years have gone by, different Presidents have come into power and made even more promises (Do tell me, do they keep them?) And this is true everywhere in the world:

Presidents and Heads of States make promises to their people. Promises of food security, economic stability, healthcare, safety, lowered taxes, one district one factory/dam, free quality education, financial security, etc.

And as many countries go to the polls to decide on new presidents soon, there will be even more of such promises.

But then imagine meeting the current President of your country personally and he/she says to you, “Young lady/young man, I am the President, and as long as I live, I’m going to help you; I’ll never forsake you.”

Wooow! I’m quite sure your speech would change, your behavior, your attitude would change. And rightly so because now you have an assurance from the President and you believe that he can take care of you (as long as he lives). You’ll live with some calmness and peace, even some boldness about life (ahomaso 24/7)

Now stop imagining 😊. What if I told you there’s such a promise for you? And even more, this particular president lives forever and so longevity is assured. I am talking about the words and promises of one who is greater than all the Presidents or rulers of this world, His name is JESUS CHRIST.

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will NEVER leave you nor Forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” ~ Hebrews 13:5-6 #Bible

Our earthly rulers and politicians may not keep their promises but our Heavenly Father has a reputation of keeping His promises (since time immemorial).

Beloved, I don’t know whose promise you’re holding on to, perhaps one from your parents/guardians, your partner, a sponsor, an uncle/aunty; neither do I know who might have disappointed you in time past (really sorry about that);

One thing I do know is this: the arm of flesh may fail you but Jesus’ promise holds true – He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Today, I want to encourage you to trust in the speeches of Jesus, His words are true, His promises are delivered -fresh from nature God- (Ghanaians understand this well lol) and they will give you life.

What scriptural promises are you currently holding on to? I’ll suggest a couple to you:

1. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. ~ Matthew 6:33

2. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. ~ Matthew 28:18-20

If you don’t know this Jesus, the Bible promises us that Jesus will return to take His faithful followers with Him to live with Him in His glorious presence forever, in Heaven.

Everyone else will be left behind to face God’s wrath and judgment. Jesus is coming soon, perhaps today? And if Jesus were to return today, do you know if you will join Him to heaven? You can be sure of this. If you want Jesus in your life, kindly repeat this prayer in faith:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge you as Lord and Saviour. I believe you died and rose again because of my sins and my salvation. Come live in me Lord Jesus, and teach me Your will. I believe in your promise that You’ll never leave me nor forsake me, Amen!”

Congratulations!! There is great rejoicing in heaven because of you!
