The Sheep and The Goats ~ LM Akua Amprofi

5 min read

Today, we are super blessed to have the angelic Lady Minister Akua Amprofi share a powerful word from Matthew 25 with us. You will be super super blessed by this 3 minute read!
Scripture passage: Matthew 25:31-46

He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ ~ Matthew 25:33-36

  • If Jesus appeared to us physically, asking for, say, a glass of water or some other thing, I am sure most of us would work ourselves up to get His needs met.
  • And the truth is, Jesus does appear to us in many ways, through His people who seek our help. Unfortunately, many times, we turn these people away.
Why do we do this? It could be for the following reasons:
  1. Lack of love.
  2. We don’t want to be inconvenienced.
  3. We don’t care much.
All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Jesus makes us know of 3 things that will happen when He comes:

  1. There will be a separation (v31 – 33)
  2. There will be an assessment (v34 – 45)
  3. There will be judgments/rewards (v46)
“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ ~ Matthew 25: 44-45
  • Where do you think you would fit when the separation occurs? Will you be part of the sheep or part of the goats?
  • Bear in mind that when these two groups were responding to people, they had no idea it went beyond the people involved.
  • Jesus took the things that were done or not done for people “personal” and judged accordingly.

The two groups both asked: “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty…?” They both addressed Him as Lord but they acted differently.

Jesus said, Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven but only the one who does the will of my father in heaven. ~ Matthew 7:21

  • This tells us that whatever we do for the Lord doesn’t go unnoticed and will certainly be rewarded (Read Psalm 62:11-12 and 1 Cor. 15:58).
  • God sees, and God rewards. I can imagine Jesus smiling as He spoke to the sheep and frowning when He spoke to the goats.
  • Do you want to receive an eternal reward? Do you want the Master to congratulate you with a “well done”?

Then, serve people as if you were serving Jesus Himself. Love people as if you were loving Jesus Himself. Be counted as part of the sheep, not the goats! ~ LM Akua Amprofi (IG: akuaampromfi)
