- Every young person has anxieties and questions about their future, and we most times wonder how tomorrow will turn out:
- “Will I be successful? Who will I marry? Will she be virtuous and beautiful? Will he be righteous and rich? What job/business will I have? Will I be happy?”
- The disciples who surrounded Jesus had similar questions and worries sometimes. You are not alone:
So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?” And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters.
Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.” ~ Luke 22:9-12

- I’m so glad Jesus walked with human beings like you and me because the disciples had the same questions we sometimes have concerning the future.
- In the Mark version, you can sense the anxiety in their question: “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
- In fact, at a point, some disciples asked Jesus, “Can we sit at your right and left in your kingdom?”
They wanted to secure positions of success in the future. And hey, we sometimes want to get connections and influence in high places for the security of jobs, favours, etc. Take note of this scripture in Acts 1:6-7,
“Then they (the disciples) gathered around Him and asked Him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.”

- You see, I believe the disciples thought Jesus’ kingdom was an earthly one.
- They probably thought Jesus was going to take back power from the Roman government and give it back to Israel.
- And if that should happen, then most likely they will be His council members or ‘ministers.’ So they wanted to know, “Lord when will our positions be secured?”
But Jesus replied saying, “Forget the anxieties and worries, your times are in God’s hands… but you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you…”
- Listen to me dear friend, whatever you are going to become is in God’s hands.
- Beloved, I’m saying your future is secured in God’s hands! And the Holy Ghost’s power will bring it to pass!

You know something, I know you’ll be so great, sometimes I really wish I could take a picture or a selfie with you (please remind me to do this when we meet). Because perhaps that will be the proof that you are indeed my friend someday (don’t forget me when you enter your paradise).
- Back to today’s passage, Jesus told them: Go and ask the master of the house, “Where is the guest room..? He will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”
- Dear one, there is a place ready for you! It is furnished and ready for you!
- Let go of your anxieties and seek the Lord, your future is secured in God! (to be continued…)
