Anxiety II: A Future of Abundant Good Things

5 min read
  • Yesterday we saw that God has a place prepared for you and it is furnished and ready for you!
  • Do you know another interesting part to this? I’ll tell you, “It is a LARGE UPPER ROOM:

So they said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare?” And He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters.
Then you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’Then he will show you a LARGE, FURNISHED UPPER ROOM; there make ready.” ~ Luke 22:9-12

  • Dearly beloved, God will have me tell you to let go of your anxieties, your future is secured!
  • For some of you, there are positions in businesses/industries furnished for you. For some, there are scholarships and travel opportunities ready for you;
  • For others, there are rich, righteous, and romantic A1 spouses prepared for you; and for some great ministries prepared for you…
  • God has your future secured! Beloved, rest in God and don’t be anxious about life. David says in Psalm 31:19:

“How ABUNDANT are the GOOD THINGS that you have STORED UP for those who fear you, that you bestow IN THE SIGHT OF ALL, on those who take refuge in you.”

  • Isn’t this great news? Dear friend, something good has been stored up for you and in the fullness of time, ALL will see His goodness.
  • And we see two important conditions: these abundant good things are for those who fear God and take refuge in Him. (1) What does it mean to fear God?

To fear God means to have deep reverence/respect for God. It means to have a consciousness that God is real, He is interested in how I’m living my life and He’s watching me.

Proverbs 9:10 says “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” This means the wisdom of God is not automatic; it begins with fearing God. Why? Because fear moderates your character.

  • The fear of God works on your character and gives you limits. When a person fears God, I tell you, there are some things they cannot do. They are restrained by God.
  • People who don’t fear God are like cars without brakes – they can just go and go and go, without stopping – there’s no restraint.
  • And this wisdom of God comes by revelation (something covered being unveiled) from God’s word and by the Holy Spirit.

Even though there was a LARGE UPPER ROOM furnished, the disciples did not have this revelation and did not know how to access it. It was hidden from them.
Only Jesus had this revelation and how to access the prepared furnished room!

"How ABUNDANT are the GOOD THINGS that you have STORED UP for those who fear you, that you bestow IN THE SIGHT OF ALL, on those who take refuge in you."

This also means that the abundant good things are stored up for those who walk in the wisdom of God. And we saw that this wisdom of God has to be taught:

  • Now if something has to be taught, it means we have to learn it. As in, we were not born with it. You can get high grades in RME and Bible knowledge but not have the wisdom of God.
  • Because without the fear of God, we can never qualify for the wisdom of God. Only the Holy Spirit can teach us this wisdom. And if you do not fear God, you will not obey what He says.
  • You will ask why and ask for reasons; but most times, the understanding of God’s wisdom comes after you have done it, not before.
If you don't fear God, He may say: "Lie down" but you will respond: "For what? My clothes will get dirty and the cost of soap is high." You won't understand it.
Dear friend, the Holy Spirit only teaches people who fear Him.

(To be continued…) Heyy… you’re blessed and highly favoured and dearly loved!
