Rejoicing In A Large Upper Room!

4 min read
  • Dear family, we apologise that we couldn’t share this with you yesterday as promised; we had some unforeseen network challenges that hindered us.
  • Well, a couple of days ago, we saw the role of the fear of the Lord and the liberty/freedom the Holy Spirit gives. Let’s conclude with that and get back to our main text:

Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.” ~ Psalm 2:10-11

  • One last reason we must walk in the fear of the Lord is because abundance brings rejoicing.
  • I can already see the many celebrations you are going to have in your future due to God’s abundant good things coming your way (don’t forget our invites).
  • It is a good and wise thing to rejoice (The three wise men rejoiced when they saw the baby Jesus).

However, it often happens that some Christians actually backslide during this season of rejoicing. In their abundant future and time of rejoicing, some give in to immorality, drunkenness, pride and sin.

  • Rejoicing always has to be done with trembling (Psalm 2:11), otherwise, we can lose control. “Trembling” means to shake visibly and outwardly with fear.
  • This is why we must let the fear of God rule in our hearts. It will control our celebrations, and it will be manifested outwardly as trembling and holiness!
When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.
Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Deut 8:10-14

Last week we saw that God has a place prepared for you and me, and it is furnished and ready! What’s more, it is a LARGE UPPER ROOM [“Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready.”~ Luke 22:12].

"How ABUNDANT are the GOOD THINGS that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of ALL, on those who take refuge in you." ~ Psalm 31:19
  • Isn’t this great news? Beloved, something good has been stored up for you and in the fullness of time, all will see His goodness.
  • “Thou prepareth a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”
  • Wake up each morning with great hope knowing that your future is secured in God’s hands.

For most of us, God has given us talents and gifts that are supposed to make a room for us in this life.
A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men”~ Proverbs 18:16.

  • Dear friend, today we ask you, what is your gift/talent? Do not neglect your gifts in the pursuit of degrees and certificates.
  • Yes, we will get the degree and great certificates, but the Bible says it is our gift that will make room for us and make us meet important people.
"A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men"~ Proverbs 18:16.
  • Eg. Do you know where your favourite musician went to school or the degree they obtained?
  • Yet you know them because their gifts have made room for them in this life and through this gift they’re blessed and they’ve met important people.
  • Do not neglect nor despise your gift; Find it, develop it and use it! You’ll find a large room, furnished, waiting for you (To be continued).

Heyy… you’re blessed and highly favored and dearly loved!
