Yesterday, we established that love is to be enjoyed too; like ice cream and chocolate.

We saw that one of the things that makes us enjoy ice cream/chocolate are the different flavours used. Today, we conclude this teaching on how to have a relationship full of FLAVOUR.

V: Vary Your Style:
  • Monogamy is monotonous and so if you’re not careful, it will get boring. Bring creativity and variation in your relationship.
  • Borrow ideas from your mentors or people with relationships you admire. Read books for ideas and apply them. Variety is the spice of life.

Not everyday prayer dates on a park, sometimes go out and eat at a restaurant, its not sin; even change restaurants sometimes (all this should be budget-friendly though).

  • Go for relationship programs and seminars (never think you know it all when it comes to relationships).
  • Go and watch a movie, do an activity together, etc. Find new ways to spice up your relationship.
O: Open up to each other.

Be honest and sincere, don’t hide things from each other. Let 2 Corinthians 6:11-13 be a guide:

“We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you. We are not withholding our affection from you, but you are withholding yours from us. As a fair exchange – I speak as to my children – open wide your hearts also.”

  • Open up and flow. Talk about your fears, anxieties and your emotions, open up. When the person does something you don’t like, speak it out! Tell them.
  • I’m not asking you to react in anger, I’m saying be mature and open up to them about it.
  • Don’t close up and hide things in you; and don’t hide how you feel, it will not bring flavour to your relationship.
U: Utilise the power of words.
  • Master the use of words because words are spirit and they are life.
  • Speak gracious words to each other; encourage each other, comfort each other.
  • Use words to show your appreciation and affection. Don’t be harsh and demeaning; don’t speak down on anyone (it takes away the flavour).

“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” – Colossians 4:6

R: Rule your spirit.
  • Get control over your emotions and your reactions with each other. Don’t react to things quickly.
  • If you get offended or angry or even jealous, try speaking to yourself first, see if you’d like the tone and choice of words.
  • 1 Corinthians 13:4 says, “Love is patient…” That is the first definition of love in the text. Learn to have patience and control over yourself.

I pray that with all these, you will have flavour in your relationships. May grace and peace abound to you, and may you enjoy rich, righteous, romantic relationships and marriages. Β – Rev. Simon AmpofoΒ (YouTube || Instagram || Facebook).
